Collaboration and flexibility at the heart of design.

The Health Innovation Hub is a flagship investment within the University’s Glasgow Riverside Innovation District (GRID). The building and internal ecosystem benefit from research links to both the University of Glasgow and the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. Aside from commercial businesses, the building will be home to the University of Glasgow-led Living Laboratory for Precision Medicine – an internationally leading programme supported by UKRI Strength in Places Funding. The programme is focused on translating cutting edge research and healthcare innovation into a real-world clinical setting. A key aspect of the programme will be to enhance collaboration and partnerships between academia, industry, clinicians and the community in order to better tackle healthcare challenges for the benefit of patients and the NHS. It is hoped the world-leading work carried out here will go on to help address some of the biggest healthcare challenges faced nationally and globally.

The Living Laboratory for Precision Medicine Program

The Health Innovation Hub is part of the Living Laboratory for Precision Medicine program. The Living Laboratory for Precision Medicine was announced in June 2020 as one of the seven successful bids to wave 1 of the UK Research and Innovation Strength in Places Fund (SiPF). The project brings together a collaboration of partners to address the biggest challenge currently facing precision medicine: the adoption of healthcare innovations into clinical practice for the benefit of patients. The project will cement Glasgow as a global leader in precision medicine, delivering savings for the NHS, improving health outcomes and driving economic development in Govan, Glasgow, across Scotland and beyond.

The Glasgow Riverside Innovation District (GRID)

The Glasgow Riverside Innovation District (GRID) is a partnership between the University of Glasgow, Scottish Enterprise and Glasgow City Council and is Scotland’s first whole-system demonstrator, committed to supporting the establishment of a series of real-world innovation testbeds.

GRID aims to create an environment which will boost existing collaborations with industry and encourage the formation of new ones. Encompassing both banks of the River Clyde, GRID offers the city the chance to reimagine its proud industrial heritage for the 21st century and to establish Glasgow’s leadership in the industries of the future.
